CloseKit's Xero Integration: What It Does and When It's Available

An overview of CloseKit's upcoming Xero integration — what it connects, how prepayment and accrual journals will sync, and what it means for your month-end close process.

CloseKit already connects to Xero to read your GL account balances and flag post-close violations. But the integration is expanding significantly. This article explains what is already live, what is coming soon, and how the full integration will change your month-end close process.

What Is Live Today

  • Import your Xero chart of accounts directly into CloseKit — no manual entry of account numbers
  • Compare your CloseKit prepayment and accrual balances against live Xero GL balances
  • Flag transactions posted to closed periods in Xero — post-close violation alerts
  • Surface reconciling variances between CloseKit schedules and Xero account balances

What Is Coming Soon

Journal Entry Push

The most-requested feature: pushing prepayment amortization and accrual journal entries directly from CloseKit into Xero as manual journals. You will manage the schedule in CloseKit and post the entries to Xero in one click — no exporting to CSV, no manual data entry.

Automatic Reversal Journals

When you mark an accrual as reversed in CloseKit, the system will automatically post the reversal journal to Xero on the first day of the next period. No more missed reversals or double-counting.

Two-Way Sync

New prepayment payments coded in Xero will be surfaced in CloseKit so you can add them to your amortization schedule immediately. This closes the gap between the AP process and the balance sheet reconciliation process.

The journal push feature is in development and will be available to all CloseKit subscribers later this year. Existing Xero connections will be automatically upgraded with no action required.

What It Means for Your Month-End Close

Today, most Xero users manage prepayments in a spreadsheet, calculate amortization manually, and post dozens of journal entries at month-end. The full CloseKit integration removes all of that. You enter the prepayment once. CloseKit calculates the schedule. At month-end, you click "Post to Xero" and all the amortization journals go directly into your accounting system — correctly dated, correctly coded, with a full audit trail.

How to Get Started Today

You can connect CloseKit to Xero now from the Integrations section of your account settings. This gives you GL balance comparisons and post-close violation alerts immediately. When the journal push feature launches, you will be notified and can enable it with a single toggle.
